A Love Text from the Sun to Dawn
A first-person account of the Sun’s playful pursuit of Dawn
I am in love with you, Dawn
and your rosy-colored clouds.
If you truly are in love with me,
then I intend to be with you.
And if you intend
to be with me,
I accept you as is.
I hope you accept me.
I need you in my life.
I hope you need me in your life.
Beyond morning light
as you leave the rest of the day
to do your due diligence.
I don’t know what they are
but I honor your privacy.
I also like that you don’t
broadcast it for the rest of
our celestial buddies to see.
But, I dare ask:
Why do you need almost
23 hours of beauty sleep?
I only need 12.
Can you give us just
a little bit of extra time
without the added
courtship of Solstice?
Then again, time ain’t
the only thing
that gets in our way.
