Discipline vs. Motivation: Will One Always Win?

More often than not, there have been days when my mind wanders from the skies above to the deepest trenches known to mankind. These days, I struggle to find engagement or excitement for tasks, whether it be waking up or figuring out why I am not where I would like to be. Moreover, the struggle intensifies as the day passes, creating more boredom and a more uneventful timeline. The day from when I wake up to when I am about to fall asleep seems like a complete waste of my limited time here with you all.

However, one day I decided I had had enough and was tired of searching for the answer to this question: Why am I not getting the things I want done? To me, answering this critical question seemed the only way to find out why I did not feel like a winner in life. So, I found that not trying to search for enjoyment before fulfilling my daily tasks was the key to the lock. I focused on setting a certain task, which was non-dependent on my mood, and would be accomplished purely based on my will. Early on, I struggled because motivation was trying to play an important part in my decision-making, but soon enough, I let myself be guided by discipline.

For example, when I first thought about starting my journey into fitness, I was filled with passion, determination, and pure excitement. As the days turned into weeks, all three began to swim down…
