#WhatsWrongwithIndia?
The Twitter trend intended to flood the platform with racist, stereotypical tweets about India ends up exposing the world’s hypocrisy.
Recently, a Spanish travel vlogger, traveling by bike with her husband, was gang-raped in the Indian state of Jharkhand.
All the rapists were soon arrested, but in this unfortunate crime, people saw an opportunity to denigrate India and its culture.
The unnecessary criticism of India, forced the victim to express her disapproval over the “absurd comments on India”:
“We mean that this can happen to anyone, to your daughter, sister, your mother, and in any country in the world. Nobody is free, this has already happened many times in Spain, Brazil and America. So don’t talk nonsense that it’s because we are in India.”
“This can happen to any traveller, anyone.” Vicente (the victim) said.

But that did not stop the Twitter hashtag factories from posting derogatory and racially disparaging tweets on India.
