Moonlight

A poem

I belong to the night.
A place of fading shadows.
Where the roads are limp,
yet they echo distant lives.
Here, the movies have ended.
But my stories are alive,
with epiphanies on my pillows.
If you care to look closer,
by my stained fingers
There’s also a paper
and some promises.
‘Psst,’ some tomorrows
are to be paid in advance.
But I don’t belong to the night
for the times I have kept her awake.
I belong to her
for the times in her darkness
I have become the Moonlight.
