It Is Time To Rise From the Ashes
A poem
Crumbling under my feet, I’ve seen
towers reduced to dust and ashes
from run-down, ramshackle ruins before.
But in this grand finale ‘Armageddon,’
I’m caught utterly unprepared and undone.
Wisdom earned through ages of pain
won’t do this time around.
Scavengers’ ominous circles above my head
patiently await, anticipating my headlong fall…
Resisting will make things only worse.
Decay avenges airtight airs of neglect
and timeless decrepit disrepair, uncared for…
Nothing could now prevent destiny’s flames
from burning everything to the ground…
I’ve been circumambulating ‘Meggido,’
in an endless loop, going around the edge
but not quite hitting the nail on the head.
I wish I’d known it was me I was looking for…
I walk on ‘gravestone-like streets,’
devoid of light and the spark of dawn,
tiptoeing around carefully hidden minefields…
Nothing will change but persist
unless…
