IMOGENE’S NOTEBOOK
Indigo Pens and Blue Sky
A poem
On the poet’s hill,
there is no buried earth
Nor under the red pines
or beneath the bed of lavenders
There are open walls,
a dried-up well
elder trees
and a shelter
for fables and florets
We find enough words
to talk about love and love lost.
We save some more
and when we leave
an azure sky fills everything else.

I wrote this poem inspired by my visit to the Hill of Poet Yun Dong-ju and the house of Poet Han Yong-un in Seoul, South Korea. Both places are beautiful tributes to the poets’ lives and their work.
