Your Throat Chakra Isn’t Blocked, It’s Wounded
How to Heal and Speak Up
There was a time in my life when I quickly learned that being quiet wasn’t just preferred — it was survival. Growing up in a Black household, having a differing point of view from the adults in my home wasn’t just frowned upon; it felt like a threat to my physical safety. Whether it was at home, where speaking up could mean punishment, or in school, where I feared being ridiculed for standing out, I began to silence myself. Over time, I didn’t just lose the ability to speak my truth — I lost the belief that my voice even mattered.
In the world of energy healing, we often hear about blocked chakras. The throat chakra is the energy center responsible for communication, self-expression, and truth. But what if your throat chakra isn’t just blocked? What if it’s wounded? A wound suggests that something happened to create lasting harm — an event or series of events that taught you that silence was safer than expression. And to truly heal, we must tend to that wound.
Wounding often begins in childhood, during moments when our expressions were dismissed, mocked, or punished. Perhaps you were told you were too loud or too opinionated. Maybe you were raised in an environment where being “nice” meant swallowing your feelings to keep the peace.
