Working Harder Eventually Stops Working

Working hard is often touted as the key to ongoing success.

And, initially, it works in helping many of us get ahead. However, it stops working as a strategy later in our careers. Instead, it can set us up for health challenges and career-hurting behavior.

Hard work is helpful up to a point. But, working smarter and collaboratively offers a long-term approach to maintaining sustainable success.

Lesson to Learn

Working smarter and not harder is how to sustain your efforts and build lasting relationships.

We all need to shift our tactics as we get older — and hopefully wiser. Learning how to work smarter is the key to better outcomes. In doing so, we can tap into the skills of others and build friendships that help us tackle our most pressing challenges.

Setting limits to our work schedules, getting help from others, and building solid relationships is much better.

It will also make our work — and lives — more enjoyable and rewarding.
