You could be quoting studies, referencing data, linking research papers—and somehow, he’s still sitting there, smugly replying, “These are biased/nonsense. Prove me wrong. I’ll wait.” There are more gems like this.
“It’s just facts.”
“That’s how it works in the real world.”
“Don’t get so emotional.”
“You’re taking this too personally.”
“It’s common sense.”
“You clearly don’t understand.”
“Let me explain it to you properly.”
“You’re being irrational right now.”
“I’m just stating the truth.”
“Relax, it’s not that deep.”
“I’m being objective here.”
“Basic logic, really.”
He just assumes he’s already right—and you’re just not making sense.
You’ll find above-mentioned phrases everywhere. Social media debates. Comment sections (I’ve gotten plenty of these on Medium myself). Real-life arguments.
