Just like that — the Elon Musk Twitter dupe spurring rumours that an ex-Twitter employee had suspended the CEO’s account is gone.
@eIonmusk was an account impersonating the billionaire.
On Friday, Twitter users falsely linked the impersonator to an outgoing Twitter employee who locked Elon’s account after being laid off — just days after the CEO bought the platform.
“Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended,” the businessman tweeted on Sunday.
He added that imposter non-parody accounts would be suspended without warning. On top of that, he said users with verified accounts who change their names will lose their blue check marks.
