The ‘Medium’ Rich and the Dreaming Flour Seller
Folklore for Medium Writers
The Flour Seller’s Dream is famous folklore from our place.
There lived a poor man who went from house to house to collect alms for his living. He hardly earned anything for food. To his surprise, once he found a big clay pot full of rice flour. Instead of cooking the flour, he thought of selling the flour in the town market to earn some money. While the flour seller turned poor man was waiting for a buyer, he fell asleep.
In the dream, he saw a man buying the rice flour for a good price. The poor man used that money to buy a goat and the goat reproduced many kids. Later, he sold the goats in the market to earn more money with which he bought cows. Slowly, the man started to have a better living. The cow gave milk and reproduced calves. Thus he had many cows which he sold later in the market. He earned a lot of money and started the gold business. He traded gold ornaments and gems to the king in the palace. He bought a palace-like house and married a beautiful woman. He had two kids, who played in the beautiful garden in front of the house. One day, a dog came to attack the kids. The rich man took a stick and hit the dog to drive it away.
By this time, the man was awoken from the dream. He realised that he had been hitting the clay pot, thinking it as the dog from the dream. The rice flour was spilled out in the soil. He thought, ‘better I have had the meal of the day’.
Now, about the ‘Medium’ rich;
In Medium, people often talk about money and followers. They say Medium will make you rich-er. Let me re-write the folklore for Medium writers,
The thoughts in front of the keyboard waiting to get punched, go on like;
‘Umm… I would probably write, for what I am complacent!’
Then publication, curation, followers, fame, money, palace, dog, stick… I never know what would be next!
Get up! Punch the keys consciously, not in the dreams!
