What being rejected from job interviews taught me that can apply to you
Do you ever feel like a reject?
I’ve felt like one without the help of recruiters and interviewers because I’ve never fit in, let alone have them validate that feeling over and over and over with their ill-founded rejections.
Well, sometimes you just have to get all Travis Bickle on these ‘prospective employers’ and say, ‘Well who the f… do you think you’re talking to?’ I did just that and I learned that being rejected is the best thing that can happen to you.
The daily grind of a jobless person
I used to wake up at 8 am and see my son off to school. I’m a single parent who has never seen a cent in child support. We had basic help from my elderly mother with whom we had to live because, without a job in Australia, you can’t even afford the park bench.
My office space was a storage room turned office. I had a hospital over-bed table I used as a desk because it was the only thing that fit and that’s where I sat and sent out the minimum 10 resumes a day that were on top of my to-do list.
