Hey Medium, Are You There? It’s Us, the Writers Who Are Losing Their Minds
Airing out frustrations and some ideas going forward
After a year and a half of writing here on Medium, I’ve reached my breaking point. Writing feels like a slog, and I despise coming onto Medium each morning to insulting results. The platform that was once a creative oasis, a dining table for the disabled community, and the payer of my bills is now unrecognizable.
Though my cynicism may seem rather dramatic, I’m certainly not alone in my feelings. The community that used to come together on Medium has broken up into an archipelago, each of us enduring the hurricane of corporate misdeeds in frightened solitude.
Today, I arrive at this page motivated not by the four dollars I’ll earn through this story but by the compulsion to air out some grievances and pitch a few ideas for how to restore this platform to its former glory.
