Everyone is Trapped in the Absurd — On Chaos & Compassion
Through the eyes of Charles Bukowski, we see what we already know
“People are tired — strafed by life — mutilated either by love or no love… people are not good to each other one on one. — People are just not good to each other. — We are afraid. We think that hatred signifies strength. That punishment is love.” — Charles Bukowski.
It takes no more than a dog barking a little too long or a person moving around a little too loudly while we are in a wretched mood that we didn’t choose in the first place in order for us to betray our worst sides. Quite simply: we express hatred in this world and we do it with a vengeance.
Charles Bukowski is referring specifically to the way we treat each other in his quote, but we could also, interpret his words as a prophecy for how our current societies will break down in the near future, when overpopulation leads to overpollution, and when disrespect leads to the disrespect of law and order systems.
