Could 100 Men Really Beat A Gorilla In A Fight?
The question my teenage son won’t stop asking
Could a gorilla beat 100 men in a fight?
“The gorilla’s going to win,” I say when my teenage son asks me for the sixth time that day.
‘How can you think that?” he says. “It’s the 100 men!”
Taking over the internet
This random question had recently taken the internet by storm. More than 288 million people have joined the online debate on X, with celebrities also weighing in.
World heavyweight boxing champion Oleksander Usyk recently said he could do it single-handed, whilst Elon Musk offered to be one of the 100 men when YouTube star Mr Beast asked for a team of volunteers.
The debate is still raging, and it’s not just confined to social media— it’s made its way into my kitchen, the car, and every family dinner.
My teenage son is obsessed
My teenage son is completely hooked, throwing hypothetical strategies at me between mouthfuls of pasta: ‘What if the men rushed at once?’ ‘What if they used strategy?’ ‘What if they were all MMA fighters?’
It’s the kind of debate that lights up the teenage imagination.
