When I mention my dedication to clean eating, I’m often met with quizzical stares, a whirlwind of inquiries following suit — What? How? Why? The cherry on top? “Wait, no chips or soda?”

I chuckle because these folks didn’t know the “me” before I changed my eating habits. Back then, I devoured everything in sight, convinced it had zero impact on my well-being. Oh, how wrong I was! Let me share my journey of discovery and hopefully inspire others to dive into the benefits of clean eating.

  • Understanding Clean Eating: The Quest for Healthier Choices
    In today’s world, knowing what’s truly ‘clean’ in our diets seems akin to solving a labyrinth. Why do so many think they eat well but suffer from health issues and perpetual brain fog? Food isn’t just about taste; it fuels our body systems. Low-quality food results in low-quality performance from our body’s intricate mechanisms — digestive, cognitive, and the works.
  • We often seek dietary advice from diverse sources — marketing gurus, food manufacturers, celebrity endorsements, or even official agencies. Yet, the real game-changer lies in understanding labels. Perhaps an app might guide you, but ultimately, making informed decisions based on what suits you best is the way forward.
  • So, What’s the Deal with Clean Eating?
    Instead of bombarding you with scientific jargon, let’s keep it accurate. Clean eating varies for us, and progress begins with small steps. It’s about making smarter daily choices regarding what we put into our bodies. For me, it’s steering clear of additives, preservatives, toxins, hormones, or dyes.

I chose to skip commercially farmed animal products and opt for meat with a better backstory before it reaches my plate. We all have our quirks.

Where to Begin: Find Your Motivation
Whether for health, the environment, animal welfare, or dodging toxins — your motivation jumpstarts your clean eating journey. Do some digging and find that one thing that gives you the chills; it’s an excellent place to kickstart your journey.

So, How Does One Embrace Clean Eating?
Spoiler alert: it’s not a snap-of-the-fingers transformation. I’ll share my bumpy ride and how I’ve tailored it to suit my cravings and needs.

Quitting meat and dairy was my initial challenge, taking about 90 days to conquer. Then came the sweet tooth showdown. A sugar detox was on the cards, and while I lasted around 45 days, a cupcake eventually lured me in. So, I made a deal with myself — indulgence once a week. It’s been surprisingly successful! Progress, no matter how small, is still progress, right?

Is Clean Eating a Challenge?
Absolutely! There are days when cravings get the better of you, and that’s okay. Remember, it’s a journey, not a punishment. Just strive for more good days than bad.

Cost-wise, clean eating is actually budget-friendly. Eating nutrient-dense food makes you eat less junk, and your body stays satisfied longer. So, your wallet thanks you!

Navigating Social Situations & Cravings
Events and holidays might test your willpower, but practice makes it easier to resist those temptations. And guess what? There’s an abundance of delicious, clean-eating recipes out there.

Life Without Burgers and Cookies?
Who said anything about giving them up? I’ve got game meat from Alaska and homemade sweet potato fries that put fast food ones to shame. And let’s not forget my cookie-baking skills!

There’s a long list of health issues linked to the junk in our food — mood disorders, digestive troubles, skin problems, you name it! It’s time we understand that the food we consume plays a significant role in our health.

As we enter this new year, let’s commit to ourselves. Let’s look closely at what we’re consuming and make informed choices. The journey toward clean eating might not be a cakewalk, but it’s worth every step.

As I progress, the cravings diminish, and I feel fantastic. My skin and hair have never looked better. You owe it to yourself to give clean eating a shot. Trust me, you’re worth it!
