Capitalism Has Ruined Motherhood For Me
The importance of a healthy mindset
Greetings internet zombies,
Random fact about me: I have quite a toxic relationship with money.
I actually discovered this last spring after watching several videos on manifestation — don’t judge me. If you’re into that kind of juju, you’ll already have some understanding of the concept of ‘limiting beliefs.’ Which is exactly what it sounds: beliefs that hinder our success in some way or another.
My limiting belief was:
Money is evil.
Or at least the root of a lot of evil in the world.
I had internalised this viewpoint so much I couldn’t even bring myself to pray for financial prosperity. The fact that I have quite a negative perception of rich people didn’t help either. In fact, these are some of the things that often pop into my head when I think about ‘the rich’:
Shallow, empty brains.
Botox.
Kardashians.
Freakishly neat fridges.
It’s no exaggeration when I tell you that turning into a mindless, Tupperware-hoarding rich person is one of my greatest nightmares. There’s something that always felt intrinsically unspiritual, materialistic…
