As soon as October began, tombstones, coffins, and witches began to appear in front of the doors and in the gardens, and big packages of candy were placed on the front shelves of the stores. And a giant skeleton began to stand in the neighbor’s yard. Halloween season had arrived.
Halloween is a celebration from the Celtics, Samhain-Halloween started in 1845–46 with festivities after the harvest during the potato famine. During Samhain, people believe that the boundary between the living and the dead has disappeared. The Irish and Scots who immigrated to America brought this tradition with them and began to celebrate it in this new country with more enthusiasm than in their old lands.
Halloween in America has been celebrated with many activities from pumpkin carving to crazy costume parties to children going door to door on the streets on the last night of October to collect candy.
