A Letter to the ‘King’ of Fathers
From a grateful and loving daughter
In general, it’s difficult for me to verbalize my thoughts and emotions, which is why writing is a lifesaver for me.
A few months back, I chose to publish a letter of gratitude to my mother, to showcase my gratitude when I couldn’t say it out loud.
Today I do the same, this time thanking my father, who’s also an irreplaceable part of my life. I am and always will be proud to be his daughter.
Dear Father,
Today, as I read the news, I am saddened to hear about how yet another girl or woman is disadvantaged for the simple reason that she is female. She may yearn to pursue higher education, be judged equally alongside her male counterparts, or just go about her life without fear of harassment.
Even in the 21st century, these wishes cannot be taken for granted. Yet I remained blissfully unaware until my late teens when the barrage of media finally entered my worldview.
