5 Simple Action Steps to Earn the First $1 Through Online Writing
Patience is the prerequisite
Last week, I finally earned my first $1 through online writing.
Here are five simple action steps for all the beginner writers struggling to make that first $1.
Step 1: Find your target audience
Do not generalize your content. Write as if you guide one person.
I created my free ebook for beginner writers who have never written before.
The content will confuse the readers if you write it for all the audience groups.
Step 2: Identify the readers’ pain points
I wrote content addressing the beginner writers’ challenges.
- What are the ways to overcome writer’s block?
- How can he generate writing ideas?
- What are the free writing tools he can use?
These are some of the questions I answered through my content.
Try to find out the audience’s pain points in your niche and answer those.
Step 3: Create a FREE ebook to solve readers’ problems
Write an ebook to guide the readers in solving their pain points.
You may write 100 short stories solving the readers’ problems. But it will always be a pain for them to find the answer from all those articles.
They would love to have all their answers in one place.
The free ebook is the best option.
Step 4: Write content to address the target audience’s pain points
Once the ebook is ready, you have to promote it.
You can do it in multiple ways.
- Tweet thread
- Tweet Post
- Shortform article
Write in these formats to address the pain points and the proposed solution.
Create a story here by describing your journey of solving that problem.
- How has the problem impacted your life?
- What approaches did you try?
- How many times did you fail?
- Finally, which method worked?
Do not write the facts. Instead, write a story about it. Readers connect more through stories.
Step 5: Educate readers about the benefits of your ebook
Nobody wants to download any ebook from a stranger.
So, do not ask the readers to download your ebook. Instead, narrate the benefits of your ebook.
- How will it positively impact their lives?
- How will it save their time and money?
Link your free ebook (or any other digital product) at the end of each article.
Do not aim to earn through online writing from Day 1. Build a relationship with your audience. When you finally make that first dollar, give your best work for free. Spending money is a pain for everyone(me included). So, give it for free, and they will not want to leave you.
