My Favorite Books to Read as a Solopreneur
From validation to a new perspective: These 5 books laid a solid foundation in business for me
I’ve wanted to be an entrepreneur for as long as I could remember.
Even before on YouTube in 2009, I would dabble in the idea of being my own boss.
The first opportunity came when I was 10 years old and my mom would take my sister and I to a candy warehouse in Chicago. Blessed with a Link card, we would load up on frooties, chewies, Snickers, and other kid-friendly sweets. In addition to financial benefits, I was particularly excited to take my product to school because I knew there would be social benefits for selling candy.
We spent over eight hours outside of the home on a daily basis with only two appointed meals.
One could easily make friends in grade school off the strength of borderline hunger.
Nevertheless, by the time I got to high school, my interests switched from candy to music. I sold mixtapes, tickets to my shows, and occasionally shot music videos for other artists. In my mind, I was a boss. I was never hesitant to create legal opportunities for myself. And although I was never “well-off,” I knew the potential was there.
