‘Convivencia’: A Very Spanish Form of Social Harmony
We should all learn from history, even if it may be a little idealized
When life throws us a curveball, we might as well write about it.
Today, I should be in Andorra (a microstate in the Pyrenees), pondering medieval bridges and eating shepherd's rice flavored with lamb, paprika, sausage and wild mushrooms. A nice plate of local cured meats and salad, prepared with fresh vegetables from the restaurant’s garden, would accompany the rice.
Instead, I am at the PTS hospital in Granada, Spain. PTS stands for Parque Tecnológico de la Salud. Our main healthcare “park”.
PTS is our state-of-the-art hospital, that was inaugurated in 2003. It is connected to the new medical school campus of the University of Granada, and home to many businesses and investigation companies connected to medicine.
As far as a hospitals goes, it is quite comfortable and has a fantastic view of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, and the agricultural area outside of the city known as La Vega.
