Welcome to this week’s newsletter, my dear HHHites. It is a privilege to meet you every week, and touch base with your lives, your loves and the words that you dress them in. I am grateful for your presence, your stories and the positivity you fill the pub, and my life, with. Thank you.

‘When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive — to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love’.
Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

When I wake in the morning, I walk to the window of my kitchen. It faces the East. I look out at the sky and see the rich colours that herald the sunrise. On winter days, when I get up early, it is still dark, but like harbingers of dawn, there are fingers of light that streak across the darker canvas of the sky.

It tells me, that first minute of the dark, lightening day, that light will arrive, to grace the world. That instant, I feel my heart fill with gratitude. Who can be dour and pessimistic in the face of this palette of brilliance? It sets my day for me, this feeling of faith in the Universe.
