Sharpening our Inner and Outer Senses
Can You “Read” Your Own Life?
I first met Sonja Choquette in 2015 at a Hay House conference in Denver. Hay House is a publishing house, founded in 1984 by author Louise Hay, who is best known for her books on New Thought. Hay House has its headquarters in Carlsbad, California, and is currently run by Reid Tracy. Many of you have probably heard of Louise Hay, from working with those afflicted with HIV to publishing her famous book called “You can Heal Your Life.”
I have been a volunteer for Hay House on at least four different occasions for the likes of James Praag, Wayne Dyer, Anita Moorjani, Cheryl Richardson and others. When COVID hit, the in-person “I Can Do it” series dissolved. I cherish the time and learnings I received from those great spiritual teachers.
Those years were an amazing experience. I remember seeing Sonja as a keynote speaker at one of those conferences. She was such a lively spirit and had all of us dancing as we left the auditorium.
Sonja was born to a deaf mother who taught her how to sense energy and read what could not be seen, especially her sixth sense intuition. Her expertise as a spiritual teacher, six-sensory consultant is sought worldwide. She speaks of empowerment and transformation and is infectious to listen to. She was educated at the University of Denver and the Sorbonne in Paris.
I was excited to receive an email that Sonja would be providing an audio program she called “Make Life Easy, Sharpening Your Inner and Outer Senses.” I knew I had to listen.
Many of us are suffering unnecessarily by not listening to our inner and outer senses. There is new research that we have more than six senses. It is said that we can hear and sense vibrations and tones. I know I am not alone when I have walked into a room and sensed that something is off and just not right. Perhaps you have been on the hunt to purchase a home. You walk in and instantly recognize this home is not for you or you sense this is Exactly the home I want to live in.
Many of us are “checked out” due to the world of iphones, apps, social media and other technology coming at us from all sides. How many times have you walked down the street to see someone on their phone oblivious to the world around them to the point of almost getting hit by an approaching vehicle, let alone walking right into you?
We have lost connection with this overreliance. Sonja invites us to come back to ourselves and our senses.
She suggests taking a walk to “name” your fears out loud! She terms this “emptying the garbage.” Be adventurous and get back into your body. What are your inner senses trying to tell you? What are the top two areas that matter to you today? What are you missing in your world? Ask the question and listen to your senses for the answers.
She further explains a term she calls “the quickening.” She defines this term as meaning life is not predictable anymore. We must use a balance of our inner and outer senses to make meaningful decisions to read our lives more accurately. Your brain, heart and gut send important information to pay attention to.
We must listen to our whole body and sharpen our senses to “see clearer. You may have heard the phrase, “leaves a bad taste” or “doesn’t ring true”, pertaining to our hearing sense.
Try being more present to have more fun in your life. Are you willing to change? What are you afraid of? Lean in and activate to honor your inner senses.
What is your mind and body telling you? “Read yourself” not what others are saying you should or shouldn’t do. They might not share the same values as you and hence their life decisions are different than yours. Practice “reading yourself!”
We have all said to ourselves ‘why didn’t I listen to myself?” We can only “mind our own business.” It is not up to us to change another as we cannot read what their inner senses are telling them. We can only trust that we can read our own life, listen to ourselves and act with courage to follow our own path to happiness.
As Sonja says, “your empowered self awaits.”
What are you called to do and how will you move forward?
I welcome your thoughts on how you have followed or not followed your senses..
