Meet My Muse
The warrior of the blank page
I’ve discovered a wonderful muse. Never before has my page stayed blank for so little time.
As I pause to collect my thoughts or locate a particular word, my gaze drifts up to the boats before me. Boats that have plied the open seas and returned home with countless stories of adventure and thrills. I see people walking the docks, hauling things to and fro, and busying themselves aboard. I love to take a few moments to imagine their world.
There is a large liveaboard community here and it bustles. They live on all sorts of boats, big ones, small ones, sailing vessels, tugs, and everything in between.
Just trying to imagine the interior layouts of the boats is enough to sidestep that blinking cursor. It melts away into words and thoughts, and I never have to see that infernal thing.
Writing here, just sitting in my car, feels bottomless. The ideas flow so fast that I have come to use my transcribe feature on my phone regularly. Yet, I am also at peace simply mulling over thoughts and ideas. The marina music, as I lovingly refer to the cacophony that accompanies anything more than a gentle breeze, offers an accompaniment to the view.
I am excited that this view will change slightly once I am aboard my own boat here. I hope my muse won’t make me sit in my car. Until then, here I sit making clickety-clacketies in my car.
I hope you enjoyed meeting my current muse.

Am I the only one who writes in my car? Surely, I can’t be alone in this.
