Trying the OM-3 at a Free Workshop

Last month, I joined a free street photography workshop organized by OM System Singapore.

I’ll admit, my main motivation wasn’t the genre itself, but the opportunity to try out the new OM System OM-3 camera.

As someone who’s more into nature photography, street scenes aren’t my usual subject. Still, it was a good chance to step out of my routine and see things differently.

The session lasted just two hours.

Right from the start, we were each handed an OM-3. Surprisingly, there was no briefing, not even a quick run-through of the camera’s features. While most of us were likely familiar with OM System gear, the OM-3 has quite a few new dials and buttons that take time to figure out.

Within minutes, we headed off to explore one of Singapore’s oldest towns.

The first thing I noticed wasn’t a person or a scene, but a rock pigeon near the train station. Even in an urban setting, my eyes still look for wildlife. I took the shot, then reminded myself: “No more birds. Focus on the street.”
