Take Interesting Photos in Boring Light with Reflections

I recently attended a photo walk at Fort Worth’s most famous attraction: The Stockyards. This sun-baked historic district takes you back to the old West with the sights and smells of saloons and cattle. Whether you think it’s a tourist trap or an iconic piece of Cowtown’s history, it’s the type of rustic Americana that film shooters find irresistible.

As seen above, the unrelenting Texas sun makes the area difficult for compelling photos outside the golden hour. But as I walked past closed storefronts, I noticed the bright light outside and the dark light inside made for interesting reflections.

With about 40 people walking around with me, I was determined to take the most unique photos of the bunch. I didn’t place in the photo contest, but I loved the creative challenge and I’m proud of the results.
