How Photography Taught Me to Slow down
Photography, my refuge to slow down and savor the present moment in a constantly accelerating world.
We live in an age where speed is king. Everything has to go fast, ever faster, and we’re constantly in demand. Personally, I can relate to this whirlwind. I’m an extremely active person, with a tendency toward impatience, wanting to take on tasks without even finishing the previous one. It’s deeply ingrained in me and I’ve always functioned this way. I handle it quite well; I don’t have any particular problem with it, but I often feel intense mental fatigue at the end of my days. And I sincerely pity the people who have to put up with me! You could almost call it a form of ADHD. I’ve explored many activities to try to channel this boundless energy: hiking, running, weight training, gardening… But, in the end, the only one that truly manages to calm me down, to deeply relax me, is photography.
An Unexpected Discovery
This discovery came about quite unexpectedly. I felt a sense of well-being, a particular calm after my outings with my camera. Of course, a simple walk in nature already has relaxing properties; it allows you to let go and refocus. But, strangely, if I don’t have my camera with me, the effect isn’t the same at all. I find it difficult…
