A Tree With Human Branches

Last month, one of the 52 Week Photography Project tasks we were given was “Bodyscape.” Full Frame readers seemed to really enjoy my take on Bodyscape: I hid in front of a tree, with a camera on a tripod in front of me. Then, with shadows on the ground, I made my arms into “tree limbs”. I wanted to make my body into a part of the landscape. I think the photos turned out well.

People told me how unexpected this interpretation of Bodyscape was. Some commenters told me they really enjoyed it, so I will share more in response.

Only one photo could be used in the official April entry. I used the shot of what looks like a tree shrugging its shoulders. But there were several runners up. These were all potential shots I could have used.

So here, I am going to share with you several of these “contenders” from the same series.

Here is a closer look at the tree with human limbs.

Bright calm weather with a low sun made these shots possible. The deep, long shadows really stood out on the grass that was just starting to turn green…
