We are back in Poland for the summer, leaving the heat of Spain behind for cooler weather on the Baltic coast. It is a time when the locals in Poland shed their heavy coats to enjoy sunny days with perfect temperatures. The northern sun extends the golden hour, giving the photographer a wide range of scenes that beg to be captured.

Traveling around my adopted land with camera in hand, I look to meet this month’s challenge. Birds, arcades and a road trip to a road race become my subjects. The photos have an organic feel to them. I guess because we live in a rural portion of the country that settles the soul and slows the pace of time.

Well, most things settle the soul. One feathered creature showcased this month is a bit on the ornery side.

I also threw in drone photo. It’s not always possible to make them fit, but these months’ aerial shot turned out well.

Was a Sunny Day

The sun does not always shine in northern Poland. Many days, gray clouds slide in from the cold Baltic Sea to cast the landscape in a gray, dull light. Winter and spring are the worst. With the sun’s smiling face now shining, a scene of dark green forest, bright green fields, and brilliant yellow flowers is revealed. A sight that rolls to the…
