Message For Americans Leaving With Stockholm Syndrome
Forget everything you know and jump into the unknown…
The American exodus has begun, with many people relocating, fleeing, or escaping from the newly authoritarian United States. This movement has sparked numerous articles and videos detailing life in various new countries.
I’ve noticed two distinct groups among these immigrants: one is grateful and joyful to be free from toxic American life, embracing the new culture and country. In contrast, the other group constantly compares and complains about everything in their new host country.
There’s even an article on Substack titled “Europe Won’t Fix You,” which argues that Americans are lucky but often fail to appreciate life in the U.S. because living abroad poses more challenges. These difficulties are compounded by navigating everything in a foreign language, making the experience even more complex.
I spent nearly 2 decades living in the US before relocating to Spain without knowing any Spanish. Surprisingly, everything seemed more manageable and better here.
