Keyboard Warriors Up in Arms
Do you feed your massive ego with your hands or a fork?
I was scrolling on social media yesterday and stopped briefly at a live; the host was engaging with his audience while eating a meal (of rice and curry) in the comfort of his home. He was eating with his hand (as we South Asians do), but this was unsavoury to some viewers (mainly British) for different reasons, and they were letting him know in the comment section:
Send your hand to the cleaners!
Why don’t you use a fork?
That’s gross!
Stop this! you’re in the UK now
Why are you chewing loudly?
Why are you eating with your left hand?
Why aren’t you fasting?
This was all within a minute or so; I could not take it any longer. The irony! Commenters were judging someone’s table manners whilst displaying a total lack of humanity and decency. Online, even on this platform, some people (keyboard warriors) feel bolstered and behave in such a rude and despicable manner.
