Forgotten History of Female Football
How women have been pressured to not play football throughout history
Growing up as a girl who loved playing football, I was often told that football is not a game for girls. My parents were usually anxious that playing football would negatively affect my physiological development. With all of that discouragement, I started to act like a lady at one point and stopped hitting balls with my foot.
As a grown woman who still enjoys playing football, I recently realized that I knew nothing about the history of women’s football. As I started researching, I sadly discovered that female football is actually a perfect example of how our natural rights can quickly be taken away from us.
