Robert sat on his couch one morning, sipping his coffee as he did, when he felt the familiar soft pressure of paws on his lap. He smiled. Gracie, his calico cat, was padding her way toward her favorite spot. There, she curled up on his legs, her fur a warm, comforting weight.
As usual, this kitty nuzzled Robert’s arm before licking his hand affectionately. Her tongue (rough like sandpaper) grazed his skin in gentle strokes.
It didn’t take long, though, before Robert felt a sudden nip. Her teeth lightly closed around his hand, just after a few licks.
It wasn’t painful, but it was enough to make him wince a bit!
“There we go again,” he muttered with a chuckle, pulling his hand back as she settled back into his lap.
This little ritual had become a part of their daily routine since Robert adopted Gracie from the shelter a year ago.
