DRABBLE | RANDOM WORD DAY 218

I Didn’t Win The Money

Or the guy

2 min readAug 5, 2024

--

Today’s random word is police, with a twist of the last sentence must be ‘I laughed and I laughed and I laughed.’

Hope you enjoy this drabble of exactly one hundred words!

“Last one standing gets a million dollars.” The YouTuber flashed his pearly whites at the camera, then turned to his pal. The cute one and the whole reason I’d signed up for this stupid event.

“So, bud,” The YouTuber grinned, “what’s the catch?”

The pal stroked his goatee and my heart hiccuped. “Last week we gave the cash to the person who held out the longest and didn’t laugh.” His eyes twinkled with mischief. “This week we’re doing the opposite, and I’m your friendly laughter police!”

I shredded my last morsel of shame, and…

I laughed and laughed and laughed!

This drabble is the direct result of a Fiction Shorts challenge — sign up and join the fun — guaranteed to be less stressful than laughing on command!

I write whimsical stories of colour, excitement, joy and revenge. And I'm kind of fascinated by words and language. And play, especially in teens and adults.
