Charlie Duke, an Apollo 16 astronaut, left something deeply personal on the Moon’s surface — a small family portrait.
During his final moonwalk on April 23, 1972, he placed a photo of himself, his wife Dorothy, and their two sons, Thomas and Charles, on the dusty terrain of the Descartes Highlands.
The snapshot, captured with his Hasselblad camera, shows the picture resting just above his boot print.
