“You know, I talked to Herschel about this morning and I’ve known Herschel a good while….I think he’s a remarkable person. I think he’s the most important Senate candidate in the country because he will do more to change the Senate just by the sheer presence, by his confidence, by his deep commitment to Christ.” — Former House Speaker
So, Newt, a “deep commitment to Christ” stands as the major criterion for holding public office in the United States? Well possibly, especially in this era as Christian nationalism has gained enormous ascendency in the political process, and as an extreme “semi-fascism” trumps the democratic principles on which the nation was founded but has never attained.
If I remember back to my middle school civics class, however, “The Church” happens not to be inscribed into our great Constitution as one of the three coequal branches of government.
Be that as it may, Newt, have you ever considered whether your Christ would have a deep commitment to Herschel Walker?
