A judge in Nanterre, France, has ordered : food, hygiene or health, and is threatening the company with a fine of one million euros a day if it fails to comply.

The case stems from a that the company was endangering the health of its employees, which Amazon denies, adding to , who in have been by the company. in have tested positive for COVID-19, and , although the company blames the contagion on activities carried out outside of his working hours.

All companies must ensure the protection of their employees if they are to stay in business. Amazon has recently gone to meet increased demand from people in lockdown wishing to reduce shopping trips, allowing them to keep working at a time when most of the global economy has ground to a halt, while the company has paid warehouse staff . Forcing the company to ensure the working conditions of its workers makes sense, and in fact, the company itself will naturally tend to do so in its own interest.
