How I Met the “First Ever Mountainbiker of the UK”
And why I’ll always remember it
I have a love-hate relationship with my phone. It is my link to the world outside campervan life. It is my safety, my travel camera, my map and guide, my know-it-all, my entertainment. Yet, I hate being so dependent on it. It is taking away my mindfulness, my focus, and my creativity. I get lost in it sometimes, wasting hours scrolling.
So when I went on a solo walk to Low Force Waterfall in the North Pennines in the UK, my phone was glued to my hand. I was so in awe of the beauty of the landscape, that I wanted to capture it all with my camera.
Being Dutch, I am easily impressed with any hill that reaches above sea level, so you can imagine I can’t contain my excitement when water is running down from such a majestic structure at high speed.
The landscape that led me towards the waterfall was so impressive with its rocky stream and green trees on either side, I spent the whole walk taking pictures. Every time I thought this image would be even more beautiful than the last one.
When I finally arrived at the natural attraction, it was magical. The tiny water droplets steaming up from the roaring swirls at the bottom created a mysterious mist, the rocks pushing the water in different directions made the…
