Tim Travels, Episode Four

Granma Würstag had been correct. When she stepped into Tim’s room, he had powered up his transport amplifier and was staring out at the vastness of space. She rushed to him. ‘My Timontague. What will I do without you here?’

He turned to look into both her eyes. ‘Granma, is the symmetry of the house more important to everyone than I am?’

She pursed her lips but held his gaze. ‘I made the statement about the house to discover the answer to that question for myself.’ She stepped back and then began to pace a short path back and forth between his bed and closet. ‘I’d seen when both Blanche and Enid popped up in a family way how everyone began treating you differently.’ She stopped pacing, straightened her posture, and clasped her hands behind her back. ‘I even questioned all five of your parents and several of your siblings, but no one came forward with the truth.’ She winked her bad eye. ‘I can tell these things, you know.’

Granma Würstag’s face softened. ‘Oh, my dearest Timontague. I fear I know why they treat you like they do. You are too much like your granpa and me. We both took to the stars when we were just a mite older than you. Your granpa was seven and I was about six and a fifth. Our lives weren’t much different than yours. Both…
