When’s the last time someone told you to stop trying to fix your weaknesses? That’s not usually what we hear. We’re told to hustle harder, “improve the areas where we struggle,” or worse — pretend that our flaws are what define us.
But what if that entire mindset is the trap? What if leaning into our strengths — not sanding down our rough edges — is how we actually level up?
In this episode, we’re kicking off the first of our 5 Pillars of Strength: Understanding Your Strengths. Because if you’re going to design your decade with intention, you’ve got to start by knowing what weapons you’re bringing into battle. And we’re not talking about soft meows — we’re talking lion-level energy. 🦁
🔄 Let’s Get Something Straight: You’re Not Broken
One of the reasons we decided to start this show was because so many people feel stuck. And they don’t realize that it’s not because they’re doing something wrong — it’s because they’re focusing on the wrong things. When you keep trying to “fix” yourself, you end up exhausted and mediocre at best.
Rosann here — I became a Strengths Coach because I wanted to flip that mindset. The quote that hooked me was from Don Clifton, who pioneered Strengths Psychology: “There is no more effective way to empower people than to see each person in terms of his or her strengths.”
That hit me like a ton of bricks. Most of us are conditioned to view ourselves through a deficit lens. We obsess over what we lack. But when you switch to a strengths-based lens, everything shifts.
💥 Strengths Aren’t Just Buzzwords. They’re Your Superpowers.
Don Clifton studied what made high performers thrive, and he realized something radical: the most successful people weren’t the ones who “balanced” themselves out. They were the ones who doubled down on what they were naturally great at. 🎯
That research eventually evolved into the CliftonStrengths assessment, and we both took it. Our results were…kind of eerily accurate.
Rosann’s top strengths:

Rio’s top strengths:
· Strategic
· Achiever
· Communication
· Positivity
· Self-Assurance
What we both realized was this: our greatest power isn’t in becoming someone else. It’s in maximizing who we already are.
🦸♂️ Superhero Science: Strengths in the MCU
We love a good metaphor, and Rio dropped this one like Thor’s hammer. Think about your favorite Marvel characters. Every one of them operates from their core strength.
· Tony Stark doesn’t try to out-fight Thor. He engineers.
· Steve Rogers was chosen not for his muscles but for his heart.
· Hawkeye knows he doesn’t have superpowers — but he’s deadly accurate because he knows his lane.
There’s this line Hawkeye says that hits home: “If I miss, it means I’ve been fooling myself this whole time.”
And that’s the truth: people who know their strengths also know their purpose. That’s why they don’t miss.

1. Eliminate Self-Limiting Beliefs
2. Guard Your Attitude Like It’s Gold
3. Take Bold, Fast Action
When you move without hesitation, fear doesn’t stand a chance. Even if you don’t have full clarity, move anyway. Motion creates emotion. Movement makes momentum.
💼 Real Talk: It Doesn’t Matter Where You Work
Whether you’re in corporate, wellness, marketing, or on stage — your strengths matter. Someone, somewhere, is affected by how you show up.
That’s why leading with your strengths isn’t just about you. It’s about the confidence you radiate when you’re in alignment with what makes you powerful.
💡 Health Tip of the Day
The greatest gift you can give yourself is cardio. The heart is the only muscle that never comes to rest and the one you can’t live without. Everyday challenge yourself to do something that raises your heart-rate. Jeremy, a friend of mine, summarized it when I was in Charlotte earlier this year and he said: “Everyday your body wants to be just a little hungry and a little out of breath.”
