Do you keep your word?
In an age of declining integrity and false promises, it’s easy to make excuses and justify shortcomings. But the cost of consistent inconsistencies is an erosion of your personal integrity that will eventually undermine your confidence and damage your reputation.
Keeping your word is a priceless virtue that many no longer possess.
Have you become virtue-challenged? If your world has gotten busy and out of hand, or if you have allowed laziness to infiltrate your personal habits, take an honest inventory of your integrity. And if you find that you’re in an uphill battle to regain credibility, here are a few pointers to get you back on track:
1. Do what you say you will do
Sounds so simple — but do you do it?
Are you on time for meetings? Do you answer emails and return phone calls? Do you make it to your kid’s games? Can people believe what you tell them?
All of us commit the occasional forgivable gaffe, but have your inconsistencies become par for the course? If you have built a reputation for unreliability, you may have some damage control ahead of you.
