To know joy, one must dive deep
To understand it, we must investigate deeply…
Very few of us truly enjoy anything. We rarely find joy in a sunset, a full moon, a beautiful person, a lovely tree, a flying bird, or a dance. In reality, we do not truly enjoy anything at all.
We look at these things, we are astonished on the surface, or we feel stimulated by them, we feel a sensation and call it joy. But true joy is much deeper than this, and it must be understood. To understand it, we must investigate deeply…
As we age, we want to enjoy things, but the best essence within us often leaves us. We start seeking joy in other types of sensations – hobbies, desires, power, position – these are all ordinary aspects of life.
However, these are superficial. Let us not reject them, nor decide on their appropriateness or inappropriateness. Instead, we should understand them and give them their rightful place in life. If you condemn them as meaningless, label them as mere sensations, foolishness, or non-spiritual, you will disrupt the entire process of life.
To know joy, we must dive deep. Joy is not merely a sensation; it demands extraordinary purity of the mind. But it is not the purity of the “I” (self), which only strengthens its ego further.
Such a self-centered identity can never understand this state of joy, because the one enjoying does not exist in this experience. We must understand this extraordinary truth; otherwise, life becomes shallow, trivial, and superficial. To be born, learn a few things, suffer, have children, take on responsibilities, earn money, seek some intellectual pleasures, and then die – this is all that remains.
