All Friends Are Best Friends

Friends are those who step in when needed

Friends there are,
who tell you,
I’ll catch you
if you fall,
then there are those
who say,
tea is always
ready, if you are…
Or, let’s go out for coffee
and you agree
though (blasphemy!)
you don’t like coffee!
some friends
sit with you
and are silent,
and these are helpful, too
some call you
when you’re low,
some seek you out
when you’re absent
some remember you
after a year
and look in on you,
there are those
who lend you books,
others, who call
to talk about books,
but the best of these
are those that say,
jump as high as you wish,
I’ll catch you
before you begin to fall.
