Getting started is the hardest part
Ever Feel Paralyzed by the Sheer Number of Things You Think You Should Be Doing?
It can happen in an instant — one minute you’re thinking about a visitor coming with excitement, and the next fear of the house not being perfect sets it. You’re elbow-deep in tasks you didn’t plan on tackling for another six months.
For example, I was preparing for my daughter’s once-a-year visit. And suddenly, it wasn’t just about making sure she had clean sheets. I decided I needed to clean out the refrigerator, wash every pillowcase (including throw pillows), buy a new mini fridge, sanitize the cans inside it, and deep-clean the walls and bathrooms.
On one hand, it was great motivation to take care of things that usually get ignored. On the other hand, it was a lot. I felt overwhelmed.

At one point, I had to laugh at myself and give a little pep talk:
