What I learned from my husband, the Quiet Mind Sherpa
“May you have the gift of a quiet mind,” is a phrase that has been turning over and over in my head for weeks. I’m not even sure where I heard it, but I keep returning to the idea of it with wonder. I can’t seem to stop thinking about it.
Ironic, isn’t it?
I have a lot of gifts in my own right, but a quiet mind is most certainly not one of them. I probably have the opposite of a quiet mind. I have a deafening mind. I have a boisterous mind. If my mind were a TV character it would be Janice, Chandler’s girlfriend on Friends. It’s loud and obnoxious, and it never quits. Much like Chandler, I’d probably have to move to Yemen to escape it.
See what just happened there?
We started with the idea of a quiet mind and ended up in Yemen with Chandler Bing. We traveled 7,387 miles and only took about two seconds to get there. Imagine the places my mind goes in a day. It’s scary to think about. Thinking about thinking is definitely not something someone with a quiet mind does.
