One Week on Tirzepatide (Zepbound) — and That Was It
Who’d have thought I’d get ALL the side effects?
Note to Readers: This is my own experience, and I *absolutely* don’t want to criticize or discourage anyone who finds a GLP-1 such as Tirzepatide/Zepbound, or Semiglutide/Ozempic to be an effective, life-changing medication.
I had hoped as much for myself.
Let’s set the scene. I’m 67 and my BMI was just over 31 — just into the obese range past overweight — a week before I took my first Tirzepatide (Zepbound) injection. As someone with lipedema, an adipose tissue disorder (see Fat Legs) I’ve had, well, fat legs, since puberty. Then I magically gained 30 pounds since age 50 — most of which landed on my mid-section, upper arms, and some on the aforementioned legs.
I haven’t been thrilled to have the extra weight, but I have been thankful that it’s not worse. As far as my health, my feet and knees and hips have joint issues from arthritis, which the extra weight doesn’t help but, otherwise, my bloodwork and all signs are healthy. I fortunately don’t have pre-diabetes or metabolic syndrome.
