Unveiling the truth about wisdom
It’s not age that brings about wisdom, and it’s not even experience; it’s the ability to reflect and see what’s happening around you. It’s the ability to see things for what they really are and to nail the meaning right down to what it actually is, and from there, the life lesson comes.
In my younger days, I believed age naturally fostered maturity and a deeper comprehension of the world, along with a gradual outgrowing of attractions to toxic men, friends, and unhealthy behaviors. However, as time progressed and I gained more life experience, I realized not everyone undergoes this evolution. Some individuals remain stagnant, like the 50-year-old woman who offered me misguided marriage advice. She suggested marrying someone with the intention of changing them afterward or enduring an abusive husband to avoid being labeled as someone who constantly changes partners. Observing a woman compelled to prioritize her violent spouse over her children underscored the grim reality that personal growth isn’t guaranteed for everyone.
Unhealthy addictions also exemplify this stagnation. Despite knowing their detrimental effects, people struggle to break bad habits that are slowly killing them. Friendships that we consciously know are bad for us also persist. I’m guilty of this myself. I’ve seen close friends maintain unhealthy…
