I Find My Own Live Session Formula
We did it again!
Ever since the first live session was made, I’ve been wanting to do it again! Last October, I wrote an article called “I Attempt to Copy the Tiny Desk Formula” where I talk about how dynamic, intimate, and fun I find those Tiny Desk performances, and how I went about recording my own live session. I continue to be an avid viewer and listener of Tiny Desk. I’ve had Laufey’s performance on repeat for months now; my coworkers either love it or, at this point, probably have feelings of disdain towards her and myself (sorry, Laufey). Recently, they featured this contest winner named Philharmonik, and he is fantastic! He projected so much excitement for being there and gave off such good vibes. I recommend it in case you haven’t heard it. He even added a fun twist by dressing himself and his musicians as 9–5 office workers. It’s a really enjoyable watch!
We were finally able to put together another session! For this one, I fell into a mindset that many creators do the second time around: “This time, it has to be bigger!” I reached out to my previous collaborator, Sonia Hole, and asked if he knew anyone interested in collaborating.
