‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ — A Rare Film That Taught Indians and Pakistanis to Love Each Other
At a time when both countries are feuding at the borders, let us look back at this cinematic piece that unified both nations for once
If you’ve been following the news around South Asia, then you already know that India and Pakistan are at each other’s throats… yet again!
Without getting into the heartbreaking details of the origin of the current feud — it’s too painful to relive and reshare for me — I can say that an attack, leading to the death of 25 Indian men and one Nepali man in Kashmir (on India’s side), has started a war of diplomatic as well as social media words, multiple Line of Control (LOC) violations and a lot of war calls between the nations that were once, both in body and spirit, one.
Since the partition in 1947, India and Pakistan have fought four wars, and multiple period dramas have been made in Bollywood around the Indian Army’s triumph over its Pakistani counterpart.
